Mixing Engineer

Mixing audio is one of the most critical steps in the production process, whether it’s for a radio hit, a podcast, a live event, or for monitoring during a live performance. The art of mixing requires a deep understanding of music production, frequencies, and how to balance multiple tracks or instruments into a cohesive, polished sound. This is where Davide truly excels, bringing a project to life with precision and expertise.

Through his work with St. Paul Peterson on the highly successful "Funk Friday" series, Davide has had the privilege of collaborating with some of the world’s finest musicians, including Kenny Aronoff, Phil X, Kenny Loggins, Cory Wong, members of Earth, Wind & Fire, Nathan East, and many others. Below, you’ll find a selection of Davide’s work showcasing his exceptional mixing talent.

Studio Mixing

Just like a great chef can only create an exceptional dish with top-quality ingredients, a great mix starts with high-quality recorded tracks. Not all tracks we receive are perfect, so before we begin the mixing process, we ensure that the recordings are in optimal condition. This includes checking for phase alignment on multi-mic tracks, tuning issues, and eliminating unwanted noises such as hum, buzz, or crackling.

Once your tracks are carefully edited and treated, we begin the mixing process with your producer’s vision in mind. Our mixing philosophy is to create a dynamic, three-dimensional representation of your song, ensuring every element has its space while maintaining balance and energy. Davide mixes exclusively in-the-box, utilizing the latest digital tools, and has access to world-class monitoring studios for the most accurate sound assessment.

Live and Broadcast Mixing

Mixing live sound as a Broadcast Engineer is one of Davide’s key specialties. He was specifically hired by KBEM Jazz88 Radio in Minneapolis to mix and broadcast live events throughout the Twin Cities.

While the FOH (Front-of-House) engineer focuses on mixing for the venue, Davide approaches his broadcast mixes as a way to present the live performance to the audience at home. He has been responsible for broadcasting some of the Twin Cities’ most notable events, including the Twin Cities Jazz Festivals, Shelby Ave JazzFest, Taste of Minnesota, and numerous pop-up concerts as part of KBEM’s JazzClectic Concert Series.

Monitor Mixing

Davide is also available as a Monitor Mixing Engineer for your live event. From his early days as an audio engineer, he recognized the crucial role of a great monitor mix in the studio, particularly when recording bands or artists. A well-crafted monitor mix helps bring out the best performance, and this philosophy applies just as effectively to live events.

Each musician has unique monitoring needs, and with today’s advanced technology, those needs can be easily met. When performers can hear themselves clearly, they can deliver a better performance, even when conditions on stage change. Davide is always ready to adapt, ensuring that the monitor mix evolves as needed to support the performers, helping them stay at their best throughout the event.
